Features of furniture Euroscrew, the main scope

A popular type of fastening - the furniture Euro-screw is known in various variations: confirm, euro-screw, "Eureka". It got its name from the Confirmat trademark, under which a German company produced fasteners. The main scope of use of Euroscrews is the assembly of furniture designs.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of using the furniture Euroscrew:

  • Low cost;
  • Speed and reliability of the connection of parts;
  • The possibility of screed of various types of parts;
  • High withstand bending and tearing loads;
  • Easy installation, which does not require additional special devices;
  • It does not destroy the mounting holes, thereby interior items can be assembled and disassembled.

The disadvantages of Euroscrews are that they are not hidden fasteners. In order for the products to have a neat appearance, they have to be hidden using special plugs or plastic pads. Another disadvantage of using fasteners is the restriction of the assembly of furniture. Euroscrew does not allow the process more than 3-4 times. This is due to the fact that with frequent disassembly of furniture, the thread can be washed or torn.

Sizes and materials of manufacture

The sizes of confirmations are as follows: 5x40, 5x50, 6.3x40, 6.3x50, 7x40, 7x50, 7x60, 7x70 mm. The most common are single-element screeds with a thread diameter of 7 mm, with a length of 50-70 mm.

Fasteners are made of high quality materials, often carbon steel. They are coated to prevent corrosion. Coatings are:

  • Brass;
  • Nickel
  • Zinc

Euro-screws made of aluminum alloy are quite plastic, they do not break during the assembly of furniture. Due to these properties, fasteners can bend, if installed correctly, it can also be easily removed.

Design features

Euroscrews for joining furniture parts are a single-element screed. In fact, they are the same screws, only their body is more massive. The thread has a wide pitch in confirmations, the head is elongated, the cap has a countersunk design. The slots for the tool are different. Some are suitable for a screwdriver, others - for a hex key. Unlike other hardware, the ends of Euroscrews have a straight cut with a circular cross section.

The use of a confirm for a hexagon is considered more practical and reliable. After connecting the parts to each other, you can additionally tighten them using a hexagonal bit, a screwdriver, a drill or a special key. Fasteners for a Phillips screwdriver cannot provide such reliability of fastening, since it will not be possible to tighten the parts tightly. Subsequently, this will affect the strength of the structure, it can become loose and lose stability.

Confirmates are used to connect parts made from:

  • MDF;
  • Chipboard;
  • a tree;
  • plywood.

Euroscrews can replace standard corners. They easily withstand all bending loads. This feature allows confirmations to perform not only fixing, but also a frame-forming function. To mask the fasteners use plastic plugs (diameter 12 mm), similar to the overall color of the interior. They are made of plastic. Also on sale are special round stickers. The thickness of the plugs does not exceed 0.4 mm. They can be selected in the same shade as the furniture itself. Interior items acquire a finished look, Euro screws on them become invisible. Self-adhesive elements are more common, they are convenient, easy to use.

Installation Rules

Before you install the fastener, you must make the appropriate markings. For these purposes, there are special conductors or patterns. They significantly speed up the process and make the work more accurate. Conductors eliminate markup errors and are used mainly for large volumes of work. If you need simple markup, you can do without templates. If all the stages of work are done correctly, the connection of parts in this way will be the most reliable, durable and at the same time convenient.

In order to correctly establish a confirm, it is necessary to know some nuances regarding the material of furniture manufacturing and the design features of the fastener. Three holes must be drilled: for the threaded part, for the smooth head and for the cap. For each of them, drills of different diameters are selected. Drilling several holes significantly increases the connection time of the elements. In this case, a special drill designed specifically for the Euroscrew comes to the rescue. It is made in such a way that a hole is drilled at one time, suitable for all three parts of a single-element screed.

Installation process:

  1. First of all, you need to drill a hole for a single-element screed. To do this, use a drill with a diameter of 4 mm to 7 mm;
  2. Step milling cutters make it easier to make holes for holding the hat in it. Milling cutters are mounted on a drill. Using this particular method contributes to the simultaneous formation of the correct hole in two elements at once. The diameter of the hole for the Euroscrew, or rather for the threaded part, is 5 mm, for the head - 7 mm;
  3. A first hole is made on the first part, where a smooth head and a Euroscrew head will be placed;
  4. In another part, a blind hole is drilled, in which an internal thread is formed by drilling the threaded part of the confirm in the end;
  5. For a more precise connection and prevention of shear, the elements are firmly fixed with special devices (furniture vise, clamping machine and others).

It is important to use tools that can operate at high speeds. They will ensure the drilling of the most accurate and correct holes.

Euroscrew is a reliable modern hardware that greatly simplifies the assembly process of hull structures. At the same time, you can abandon unsightly corners and other familiar fasteners. Correct installation provides stability and durability of furniture elements, extends their service life.
