Miracle flower

In Europe, back in the 16th century, a miracle - a flower showed off in the botanical garden of Queen Elizabeth I. Then for some reason they forgot about it, and after centuries, scientists - breeders have bred more than 20 varieties of hybrids and species of this perennial plant. Cyclamen grows in Africa, Iran, Spain, it can often be found in Turkey. But in order to "tame" cyclamen in your apartment, it is advisable to use only two of its types - Persian and European. Great for indoor conditions and a hybrid of these two types - cyclamen mix.

Ways

Horns

The most effective way to propagate cyclamen is considered to be reproduction by horns., that is, rosettes are shoots on the tubers of a flower.

  1. It is necessary to tear the horn from the tuber, plant in moist soil.
  2. Then the flower is placed under a transparent glass jar or just in a plastic bag, and after 2-3 weeks the roots appear.
  3. And then they look after the cyclamen, like an adult flower.
Note! When planting, you can take only one horn, as the flower will die if you tear off all the horns.

This method is best used for European cyclamen, because the Persian cyclamen rosettes do not take root well.

Tubers

As soon as the cyclamen fades, the leaves turn yellow, cyclamen can be propagated by tubers. This is a rather complicated method, requiring special care for planting material.

This process is divided into several stages:

  1. The bulb is pulled out of the ground.
  2. They are dried.
  3. They divide by cutting with a sharp knife, and at least one kidney and several roots should remain on each lobule.
  4. Disinfect by sprinkling with activated or charcoal to avoid infections.

Seeds

The troublesome thing is the propagation of cyclamen by seeds. It takes a month, or even more. This method requires appropriate conditions - a temperature of not more than 18 ° C, high humidity and lack of light. The main thing here is to pay attention to the quality of seeds, their integrity, variety. If the seeds are purchased in the store, then you must definitely look at the expiration date. Although the seeds can be collected independently, they are usually collected from an adult flower and have an orange color.

  1. For sowing you will need a wide, but shallow capacity.
  2. The soil must be specially prepared or bought in a store.
  3. Furrows are made in the landing container, they are slightly moistened with water.
  4. Seeds are planted at a distance of 3-4 cm, sprinkled on top with the same special soil.
  5. And then - the usual care for cyclamen: the flower is put in a dark place and regularly watered.

Important! Make sure that the soil does not dry out, but excessive watering is also not needed.

  6. About a month later, the first sprouts appear. It is advisable to feed the seedlings with mineral fertilizers.
  7. Seedlings dive when real leaves appear. Then the tubers are completely covered with soil.
  8. After 5-6 months, young flowers are planted in small pots, tubers at the same time fall asleep only 2/3.

Cyclamen will have to wait another six months. So be patient. This method is suitable for true amateur gardeners, it requires patience. endurance, meticulous work.

Cyclamens from seeds at home:

Leaf

The most interesting and quick way is to propagate cyclamen by leaf. This method is applicable only to European cyclamen; Persian cyclamen is not bred from the leaf at all, and it’s not worth trying. Many flower lovers, on a hunch, try to propagate cyclamen with cut leaves.

They are carefully cut, put into water or immediately planted in moist soil, expecting that cyclamen will let roots. This method, of course, is possible, but there are certain features, they must be taken into account, otherwise the leaves will fade, turn yellow or even rot.

To get a new plant from a leaf, you need to break it off with a small piece of tuber, and in no case cut it off.

Note! On some leaves there are roots, they are also called fingers. Only such leaflets with fingers have a chance to shoot.

Features of growing from a leaf

Can and how to propagate?

How does it reproduce by leaf at home? A leaf with fingers should be put in water, let it let the roots. Then it is transplanted into pre-prepared soil and covered with a jar. After 2-3 weeks, the roots will grow, the cyclamen will take root, and the long-awaited shoot will appear.

The soil

Soil is prepared in advance. Peat, humus, turf and leafy soil, sand are taken in equal proportions. All mixed, watered with water. A small pot is cleaned to the place where the light is scattered, there is no direct sunlight.

Watering

Watering should be moderate, but regular, temperature - no more than 16 ° C. It is desirable that at the bottom of the pot there are small holes for the drainage of excess water, then the roots do not rot. The temperature of the water for irrigation should be slightly lower than room temperature. Before the flowers appear, cyclamen is poured directly into the pot. And as soon as flowers appear above the leaves, water needs to be added to the pan, and the excess should be drained.

The best way is watering with a cord pre-installed in the ground and stretched through the hole. But do not stop caring for the flower during dormancywhen it fades and leaves without leaves. It is generally recommended to reduce watering, but not completely stop. The substrate should not dry out. It must be remembered that cyclamens are not sprayed, the dust from the leaves is carefully washed with a sponge or a small soft brush.

Fertilizer

To cyclamen bloomed longer, it is advisable to fertilize it, feed it twice a month. This flower loves various mineral fertilizers. Propagation of cyclamen leaf is rarely used. It is believed that this way the flower survives worse. But if you follow all the recommendations, then cyclamen can be grown without much difficulty. And then the miracle flower can grow, bloom and multiply, give a rainbow mood, comfort and warmth to every home!
